It was a FAIR time...

Ain't nothin' like a good ole county fair to welcome fall!!!!
Noah looks forward to the fair all year long, saving every penny he can for games and rides. And it rarely disappoints him!!!
Grammy volunteered(not exactly how that happened!!!) to watch Nicky Brees, Daddy was at a firefighters' meeting, so Noah and Mama got to do some quality bonding this year.....along with a few others.
First, we ran into a friend from Noah's football team. They spent some time together off the field!!!

Then some of our family started to arrive.....see Anthony, and Felicity? And her friend Anna?
Aunt Richie was there too!!! This was Anthony's first ride at his first fair!!!
See our bonding?!?
Oh, and these 2 showed up also!!! Say hello to Aunt Tiffany and Austin!
Noah was a stinkin' doll with Anthony, taking him around and showing him everything, and even making sure he measured up......and sweet Anthony seemed OK with it!!!

Boys wanted to ride this dragon.....and boy, did they pick a car with a pretty name!!!

See the name now?!?

Two sisters on their first fair ride together!!!!

Here's the gang.....minus the photographer.......oh, and see how Uncle Rod came too?!?

Oh, there's the photographer/Mom/Aunt T
This year, I also decided after much careful thought, to not try to tote my camera around, for fear of it tearing up or getting lost, so I only had my cell phone camera as an option.......so for these next few, they are blurry, but cute.
He was happy to be on his favorite ride, the Starship, or as we used to call it, the Gravatron.
This is another one of Noah's old favorites....he had such a good time.
This one is super blurry, but Aunt T taught Anthony to ride with his hands in the air!!!
Here's Tiffany, yours truly (looking like my mother), and Richie Lou. We even got to have a little fun on some other rides without the kiddos, thanks to Uncle Rod!!!

Finally, at the end of the night, as the dust was settling, Noah finally got to play his beloved games....and he made out pretty well!!!
That's a picture, a stuffed puppy (he gave it to his lil bro!), a red ball, a Bama basketball, a $100 bill, and not one but 2 goldfish!!!

And, as always, all good things must come to an end....pictures cannot describe the fun we had that night......and we'll always have fun fair memories!!!

The Big 6-Oh!!!!

No one has done it more gracefully, or with more class than my mother!!!!

Today, she turns the big 60, and I hope she has at least 60 more!!!

Try, Try Again!!!!

Many people who read this know, my little one turned 1 back in August. For his summertime birthday bash, we were excited to have a little splash party. We had small pools set up, we had water guns, water balloons. I kept looking through all of the Dollar Stores for more inexpensive water toys that would be fun for toddlers, but didn't really find much....I suppose summer was close to ending, and most everything was sold out. Then one night when I was reading a magazine that my grandmother graciously sent me, I spied this article:

So, I figured how hard could this be?!?!? I will just make a few of these with cheap sponges, and I can even blog about it later! It will be the hit of the party, I mean that child in the magazine clipping is obviously having fun!!! I bought a pack of sponges at Fred's for $1.00, and I get a hook up on dental floss anytime I need it.....ask my mother!!!

See my version:
First cut each sponge in half.

Then cut the halves in half.

Wad up several of these strips in twist in the middle.

Tie them with dental floss.

Ta-Da!!!

I'd love to show you how much of a hit they were at the party.....but unfortunately, most of them I made fell apart before they ever hit the water!!!! hahaha!!!!

However, the birthday boy did find some use for the pieces!
That's his birthday cigar!

Cutie patootie!!!!
So now, even after my failed attempt with these, I have still been over on Pinterest looking at some neat ideas for DIY activities ranging from home decor to party accessories......so, maybe I can post some of those attempts as well!!!! With better luck next time!!!

Better late than never!!!

And the last 5 days (for August!!!) are as follows:

Day 27: Hook (Command Hook that is!)

This is what the hook is holding.....had to share! RTR!

Day 28: Top (of my Hibiscus flower!)

Day 29: Pen (or my collection of, I should say!)

Day 30: Orange (you have no idea how hard it was for me to find anything orange in my house!!!)

Day 31: Key (to victory for the Bears!!!)
Although I really didn't keep up exactly on the day by day posting of this, I really enjoyed stopping what I was doing to keep an eye out for each thing to snap a picture of! It was nice to sort of take the break. Anyway, I will be back to the regular posts now. I even have a couple in the works!!! Be blessed!!!

9/11

I will always remember 9/11...I was in Chemistry class at Robertsdale High School when I found out about the tragedy our Country was dealt. I still feel the same compassion today as I did then for those families who lost loved ones, or died trying to save others. No matter how long ago this happened, it was still tragic for our country, but moreso for those families. And a little closer to home, as I look at this picture of guys after a training night, I see husbands (including mine), dads, sons, brothers....I also see firefighters! I honor them (and the ones not in the picture!) today and always.....I personally know of the sacrfices these guys (and some gals!) make daily.....without hesitation!!! I assure you, they don't think twice about it! "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."-John 15:13
